What to do in Cozumel when not diving, eating or shopping?

-Visit the Cozumel Museum, Museo de la Isla (Melgar between Calles 4 and 6 Norte), for a good history of the island, a survey of its plants and animals, and a nice reef diorama.

-Take a ferry to Playa del Carmen and then rent a car or take the bus to the excellent ruins at Tulum or better yet, more distant Coba. Have dinner in Playa before returning.

-Arrange for a tour of Chichen itza, the word-class ruins inland on the mainland.  Any local Cozumel travel agency can arrange this. Flying is the way to go. It's an all-day trip.

-Play Cozumel Mini Goff at the corner of Calle Primera Sur and Avenida 15.

-Go deep-sea fishing with Hernan aboard the Bill Fisher.

-Ride horseback

-Enjoy a Sunday evening stroll around the plaza when just about everyone on the island gets dressed up and socializes.

- Rent a car and drive around the island. Go south on Melgar. The road turns east and runs along Palancar Beach. About two miles after this turn, stop to visit the El Cedral ruin. Continue to Mezcalito's Bar & Grill, located where the road makes a sharp left. Stop for a drink or a bite to eat. Laze in a hammock and then walk up the broad sandy beach. 

--DIVE on the Atlantis submarine ride down to the reef, just across the street from the Casa del Mar Hotel.
